INTERMEDIATE HAND BUILDING & WHEEL THROWING

LOCATION: Classes held at Keramika Studio, Mullumbimby

DATES: This course will run for 8 weeks - on Thursdays

START DATE: Thursdays 8th May to 26th June 2025

TIME: 10am - 1pm

This 8 weeks course with Tali Cohen Flantz from Keramika will teach you how to take your pottery skills to the next level with a variety of advanced techniques.
You will continue to build on your hand building fundamentals and practice your wheel throwing work.

This course is designed for potters who already have a basic understanding of:
• Clay bodies and their characteristics
• Firing temperatures
• Hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab rolling

In this course, you will be able to develop your own project and complete unique handmade pieces, while learning new techniques and surface treatments.

You will get the opportunity to learn and experience:
• Overview of clay types and preparation for wheel throwing and hand building
• Reminder skill of throwing on the wheel: centering, pulling up, opening the form
• Trimming your wheel-thrown pieces
• Using oxides and slips for surface decoration
• Introduction to tissue transfers

Please note: firing your pieces will have a fee applied, this will be determined by the weight. ($15.80 per kg).

WHAT TO BRING?
• Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting clay on & closed shoes
• A large towel dedicated for play/clay (pre-loved one is perfect), especially if you're working on the wheel
• Notepad for writing info and inspiration
• Tea and coffee supplied with love

You don't need to bring anything special, a great attitude and a willingness
for mindful activity is a must :)

• Please keep in mind that our classes are kept intimate and fill up fast so be quick to enrol

Please note our classes are very small and in high demand so we are unable to offer you a refund if you can’t make it.
If you miss a class, we can offer you a make-up studio time if possible, on our open studio day “Clay Culture” on Mondays.
